Ajayeb, ridden by Sheikh Rashid Dalmook Al Maktoum of the United Arab Emirates, was euthanized during the Longines FEI World Endurance Championships in Samorin, Slovakia, on Sept. 18. 

“Ajayeb tripped and fell on the fourth loop of the track, suffering an irreparable injury to her right front leg and had to be euthanized,” stated the Fédération Equestre Internationale in a press release. 

The U.S. Equestrian Federation has announced the combinations that will represent the United States at the 2016 Longines FEI World Endurance Championships in Samorin, Slovakia, Sept. 16-17. They will be led by U.S. Endurance Chef d'Equipe Mike Dial.

The following athlete-and-horse combinations will compete (listed in alphabetical order): 

Thomas Hagis (Fries, Va.) and his own Indian Reinman, a 10-year-old Arabian gelding

This year’s Longines FEI World Endurance Championships will be held in Samorin, Slovakia, following a decision at yesterday’s Fédération Equestre Internationale Bureau monthly teleconference meeting. A unanimous proposal from the FEI Endurance Committee recommending the Slovakian venue received the support of the full Bureau.

The Fédération Equestre Internationale announced today, in its list of decisions made at the April 6-7 FEI Bureau Meeting in Switzerland, that this year’s FEI Endurance World Championships won’t take place in the United Arab Emirates.

The Fédération Equestre Internationale Tribunal has published decisions in three endurance cases in the United Arab Emirates involving Dr. Hallvard Sommerseth, Abdul Aziz Sheikh and Ali Mohammed Al Muhairi.

Dr. Sommerseth, former head of the veterinary department at the United Arab Emirates Equestrian Federation, has been suspended as an FEI official for a two-year period for non-compliance with FEI rules and regulations and his involvement in a number of events from which duplicate results were submitted to the FEI.
