The National Thoroughbred Racing Association, Daily Racing Form and the National Turf Writers And Broadcasters announced Jan. 4 that Tod Marks has won the 2016 Media Eclipse Award for Photography.

The photo was taken during the stretch run of the Sloan Hurdle at the May 14 Iroquois Steeplechase meet in Nashville, Tenn., during which fallen jockey Kieran Norris is diving toward his loose whip as his luckier competitor, Hooded, streaks by. It appeared in the July/August issue of the Chronicle of the Horse Untacked.

Randolph D. Rouse, a Virginia horseman who guided the National Steeplechase Association through some of its most challenging days in the 1970s and inaugurated one of the sport's most important innovations, has been awarded the F. Ambrose Clark Award, U.S. jump racing’s leading honor.

The Board of Directors at the Carolina Horse Park has elected to discontinue hosting the Stoneybrook Steeplechase.

It's Barn Night at the Washington International Horse Show, which means Shetlands steeplechasing and Olympians in costumes.

For years, Molly Greene has been behind the scenes, working hard taking care of and riding horses in the worlds of foxhunting, showing and steeplechasing. But on Oct. 17, it was Greene’s moment in the spotlight, as she claimed the blue in the ladies' hunter under saddle class and picked up the Leading Lady Rider title from Hunt Night at the Pennsylvania National.
