Jessica Jo Tate has ridden plenty of big-moving, fancy warmbloods over her career, but two years ago she was offered a fun new challenge when Connemara breeder Pam Liddell asked her to take the ride on her homebred Kynynmont Gunsmoke’s Gideon.
Now Tate and “Gideon” are competing in the Dixon Oval at Dressage At Devon in their second CDI start.
Oct. 1—Devon, Pa.
Last night Ireland’s Judy Reynolds continued to make history just a week after her Grand Prix and Grand Prix freestyle CDI wins at the Rolex Central Park Horse Show (N.Y.) by becoming the first Irish rider to win the Grand Prix CDI class at Dressage At Devon.
With Vancouver K, she scored a 75.66 percent, ahead of Arlene “Tuny” Page on Woodstock (73.36%) and Megan Lane on Caravella (71.98%).
Sept. 30—Devon, Pa.
Blowing rain, chilly temperatures, people lining the fence and puddles in the ring might be the undoing of some dressage horses, but Canada’s Tina Irwin has been training Laurencio for that situation all year, and it showed as they topped today’s Prix St. Georges CDI at Dressage At Devon.
The pair scored a 71.00 percent to best Guatemalan rider Esther Mortimer, who was second with Adajio (69.21%) and Irwin’s husband Jaimey, who was third on Donegal V (68.81%).
