Neither John French nor his mount Center Court are strangers to the derby field, and their experience paid off big on Saturday evening.

The pair wrapped up their 2016 show season with a blue ribbon, besting the field of 24 competitors to win the $50,000 USHJA International Hunter Derby at Week 2 of the National Sunshine Series at HITS Desert Horse Park.

Antioch, Ill.—Sept. 11

In May, Celtic Fire was jumping in a grand prix. Just four months later, and he’s won his first USHJA International Hunter Derby.

Erica Quinn of Maineville, Ohio, rode Celtic Fire, owned by CF Partners, to the win in the $50,000 USHJA International Hunter Derby at the Chicago Hunter Derby, presented by Canadian Pacific. It was Quinn’s first trip to the derby in Chicago.

Lexington, Ky.—Aug. 19

It’s a word Larry Glefke doesn’t use often, but it aptly described Kelley Farmer’s round aboard Baltimore in the opening round of the USHJA International Hunter Derby Championship.

“Flawless,” Glefke said, shaking his head. “I never say this—I usually have a lot to say when she comes out of the ring, but that was flawless.”

When do they jump? How can I watch? Where are results? Your questions, answered.
