Lucy Matz never thought she’d be riding Bailey VI, and she certainly never thought she’d be bringing the mare to the Colorado Horse Park for the Adequan FEI North American Junior and Young Rider Championships. She’s sure glad she did—Matz piloted Bailey VI to the individual gold medal in the junior competition.

Sophie Simpson was truly in a league of her own in the young rider individual competition at NAJYRC.

Simpson won the opening speed round, put in two clear efforts for her team the next day to win gold, and topped it all off with two clear rounds in the individual competition to add another gold medal to her haul.

Annick Niemuller started the day of Adequan FEI North American Junior and Young Rider Championships CCI* cross-country in fourth place on FE Akari. But by the end of the day, she found herself sitting first after her own double-clear trip.

All three North American countries were represented on the podium in the FEI Junior Individual test. Leading the charge was U.S. rider Jenna Upchurch on her horse Greystoke, taking the gold medal with a score of 70.63 percent.
