Irish show jumper Denis Lynch had a rollercoaster week at the Aachen CHIO in Germany, and he started this week with very bad news.

On July 3, Horse Sport Ireland named Lynch as one of its two individuals to compete at the Games, along with Billy Twomey. Ireland had not qualified a team, but Lynch and Twomey’s individual results had secured the nation two individual slots for Olympic competition.

July 5, Nations Cup day of the CHIO Aachen (Germany), brought good and bad news for German dressage. The good news was that the young German team easily won the Nations Cup ahead of Denmark and the Netherlands. The bad news was that Matthias Alexander Rath said he definitely wouldn’t be able to ride in the 2012 Olympic Games.

In the final countdown to the London 2012 Olympic Games, the Fédération Equestre International has launched a new online hub dedicated to all things Olympic and Paralympic, both old and new.

Pending the approval of the U.S. Equestrian Federation Executive Committee and the United States Olympic Committee's Board of Directors, the USEF named the 2012 U.S. Olympic Eventing Team.

The London Olympic Organising Committee has announced that the final horse inspection of the Olympic eventing competition will be opened to spectators with tickets to the show jumping phase on July 31.

Spectator gates at Greenwich Park will now open at 7:45 a.m. on July 31, and the horse inspection will begin at 8:15 a.m.

The final horse inspection has become a popular public feature at major events. LOCOG has worked hard to change the schedule to make the change possible. 20,000 spectators will attend the competition on July 31.
