It's the nature of a three-day to have last-minute glitches! See who's run into trouble on their road to Rolex...
Since William Fox-Pitt is in contention to win the Rolex Grand Slam of Eventing should he claim the Badminton CCI**** the week after Rolex Kentucky, it's only fitting to catch up and see what his year has been like since his last visit to Kentucky.
Just as he has every year since the Rolex Kentucky CCI**** began in 1998, James C. Wofford, who won Kentucky in 1981 and 1986, evaluates the competition and the starters.

April 29—Lexington, Ky.

Ice water in his veins. Cool as a cucumber. Nerves of steel. All of these clichés have been used to describe William Fox-Pitt as time and time again he’s gone in the ring on Sunday afternoon and closed the deal at the world’s most prestigious three-days.

Only 27 horses will advance to show jumping at the Rolex Kentucky CCI**** this afternoon.

Two riders—Sara Kozumplik (Manolo Blahnik, 27th) and Marilyn Little-Meredith (RF Rovano Rex, 10th)—withdrew before this morning’s final horse inspection.

The ground jury held four horses for re-inspection: both of Michael Pollard’s mounts, Wonderful Will (28th) and Icarus (19th), Heather Morris’ Slate River (13th) and Barb Crabo’s Eveready (29th).
