“First of all it’s an honor to be here and to ride with amazing riders,” said Danielle Roskens after claiming the 2015 Emerging Athletes Program National Training Session Championship. “I was really impressed with all the riders this weekend and the horses. To be chosen as the winner is a huge honor.”

“Dani is the all-around package,” said lead clinician Peter Wylde. “She’s an exceptionally thoughtful and talented rider. She’s astute; she is focused; she makes a huge effort.”

On Day 1 of the Emerging Athletes Program National Training Session, the 16 finalists received their assigned mounts for the weekend at Otterbein University (Ohio). Each rider was able to hack around to get a feel for what they were working with, but today it was all about starting with the basics for lead clinician Peter Wylde, who put each group through their paces with numerous trot transitions and trot-to-canter work.

“Carly is the whole package, which is what we’re really looking for here,” said Peter Wylde. “She’s a compassionate horsewoman, she has incredible work ethic in the stables, she knows how to take care of horses and she wants to learn more, and she’s an incredibly good rider. I think she has a big future in this sport.”

At the conclusion of the 2014 USHJA Emerging Athletes Program National Training Session, Wylde listed these reasons and more for why he and his fellow clinicians dubbed Carly Williams the overall EAP champion after three days and a Nations Cup-format competition.

As the second day of the 2014 USHJA Emerging Athletes Program National Training Session comes to a close, there's an air of confidence in the James L. Child Equestrian Center in Findlay, Ohio, as the 16 young finalists prepare to compete in a Nations Cup-format competition for the title of EAP champion.
